Russian poet Anna Akhmatova returns home after receiving Italy’s Etna-Taormina Prize in 1964, haunted by memories of her past and the spectral presence of her dear friend Valeria “Valya” Sreznevskaya.
This Documentary-Drama Theatre on Film from Moscow Nights, directed by Natasha O. Ramer, explores Akhmatova’s reflections on art, survival, and history’s weight—from the Silver Age to Stalin’s purges. Featuring Diana Shortes as Akhmatova and Kathy Randels as Valya, the film captures the creative process and transforms poetry into performance.
